Katie Micak is an accomplished, interdisciplinary professional with almost 20 years of experience in the visual arts. She has held leadership positions in curatorial, research, arts management, education, research, and luxury sales.
Through this, Micak has established a network of international artists and arts professionals, Micak brings a wealth of knowledge, connections and expertise to a variety of situations or projects.
Micak has worked as Gallery Director of Spark Contemporary Art Space (Syracuse, NY) and Propeller Gallery in Toronto, Artist Residency Coordinator at the Living Arts Centre (Mississauga), Media Presentation Specialist at The Phillips Collection (Washington, DC), and numerous contracts as institutions including at Art in General, Ontario College of Art & Design and Syracuse University.
She is one of the founding and curators of Vector Festival, and of the Toronto Kids Digital Festival, and has been invited to curate exhibitions for the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Toronto Animate Image Society, and the Provocation Ideas Festival (upcoming).
As an artist, Micak has focused on the media's impact on space, relationships, emotional states, and our collective understanding of shifting realities, and has exhibited work at locations including the Royal Ontario Museum, Everson Museum, Art Gallery of Mississauga, DUMBO Arts Centre, Videofag, and on the news program, The Agenda with Steve Paikin on TVO.
